A TRIBUTE TO ALL WOMEN

Equality, the very fundamental concept enshrined in most of the constitutions of the world. Well, there are many facets of equality but on the occasion of International Women's Day let's talk about it from women's perspective.

Nature has created two types of sex/gender male and female. Is it a discrimination?

Take a pause and think. NO, it's not a discrimination, because they are not discriminatory but complementary. Will you fight for that....that why God has created different flowers like Rose and Lily? Isn't it a discrimination? I am sure you will say NO. Every flower has its own beauty, importance & contribution. They are the best, the way they are.

But when the same question comes to the men & women why we become so frivolous that we forgot to respect the very basic nature and capabilities of women. When I think that why women nowadays are very eager to do all those things that were typically classified by the society as men's work even when it's not safe and sometimes difficult too. No doubt that they are doing great and breaking the socially constructed web of work division, but I just want to go back and connect the scattered dots.

I think the reason behind this struggle is to get that lost identity and respect for themselves from which they were deprived of for a very long time. Their work and capabilities have not been respected and given due consideration as they deserved. They were considered inferior to the men and were exploited. We! who very prudently can embrace the beauty of different flowers but can't do the same with human beings.

So, in the pursuit to gain that lost identity women are trying to do what was earlier thought to be as men's work because this is the definition our society has created for competence, power and possession. For the whole human race muscle power, earning money, mental & emotional toughness are the symbol of power and possession. Even in bureaucracy, the lady IAS officers are called as SIR because there, SIR doesn't signify a male officer, but it means the one who has the power or authority. Can't the word MADAM be a symbol for power/authority? This is the level of patriarchy even among the highly educated people of our society! We expect women to do the same thing as men are doing, to prove themselves equal. Then what is point of nature that has created two different sex/gender?

Equality doesn't mean that women should do the same work as men are doing, but it simply means "to give them equal opportunity" so that they can refine and nurture their own inner beauty & competence. Because in this world FEMININE is as important as that of a MASCULINE. To all those people who can't respect the feminine and those who consider women as unwise, emotionally & physically weak and what not. I just want to remind such people that if we destroy the feminine, all the modesty and gentleness will go away, and the world will become a very clamorous place to live in. This will be the end of the women's very existence because what is the existence of a flower who has lost its own inner beauty and elegance.

So, to sustain the humanity we must learn to respect the feminine because without it, the whole humanity is INCOMPLETE.

Dear ladies " you are half the society, and you raise the other half, don't compare yourself with men, you are far more superior in your own way."

Note: Feminine Cambridge definition "having characteristics that are traditionally thought to be typical of or suitable for a woman" as per Merriam Webster "quality or nature of the female sex".

Sex is a biological term whereas...Gender is a cultural term, which refers to "the socially constructed characteristics of women and men".
